About
Port Vale Football Club have commissioned The People’s Picture to create a giant mural that will celebrate our 150th anniversary to be unveiled later this year.
Within the project we want to hear stories about what Port Vale means to you as well as celebrating players and staff that have made our football club what it is. Behind every player, manager and club legend is you, the supporter’s always have been and always will be the lifeblood of this club and for 150 years you have been behind us every step of the way. In a country full of Towns, Cities and United’s there’s only ONE Port Vale.

We are using this project to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Port Vale Football Club. We will be asking supporters to nominate four individuals from our clubs history to be the main focus of the image with Vale Park, our home, in it’s own 75th celebration year, acting as the background of the piece.
The piece will serve as a reminder that despite having figureheads in our history, it’s the supporters that make the club – without them, there would be no PVFC.

Port Vale Foundation
We work across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire supporting people in a range of different ways. We believe that by using the power of the club, we can help people to enhance their lives and the communities in which they live through a range of interventions.
We support people from many walks of life and enable to them realise their own potential and achieve their own personal goals. In 2023/24 season, we supported 5,000 people with meaningful impact and made a considerable difference to their lives.
Port Vale Foundation are self funded and self-sufficient, we rely on grants and donations to make our work happen. We work with over 100 different partner agencies from the public, private and voluntary sector.

“While we’re naturally really keen and excited to highlight the club’s history throughout the anniversary season, we also want to make sure there are lasting pieces of work to commemorate such a special milestone. This mural will be a clear nod to our past, but will also include an incredible community of people, giving supporters the opportunity to include photos of both themselves and loved ones who have been such an important part of the Port Vale story over the years.”
Port Vale Chief Executive | Matt Hancock
“I am thrilled to be invited to make this mural to celebrate and commemorate Port Vale Football Club’s 150th birthday! I have a special interest in artwork inspired by football and also Stoke-on-Trent since when I was much younger I made an artwork in your city! This is going to a really great piece lighting up the entrance to the club with all your colourful photos, and we can’t wait to read your stories too! So please take part!”
